There are many self-destructive items tempting us every day. If you happen to live in a low-income neighborhood, you may notice your local convenience store keeps the most highly requested self-destructive vices available at your fingertips. This face is an example of how and why the rich get richer and the poor get dumber and stupider. Most low-income people are addicted to the cheap, mal-nutritious food offerings of convenience stores. For example, white bread, cans of tuna, macaroni and cheese, ANYTHING with cheese, sugary drinks, candy bars, and of course alcoholic beverages. Many people thrive on quick nicotine or sugar fixes. An endorphin rush is also highly desired. A fast way to get an endorphin rush is to buy a scratch-off or two in an attempt to win a lottery prize.
Of course, buying scratch-offs is the worse financial investment in the history of mankind, but it doesn’t matter. Addicts don’t care about the long term consequences. Your corner convenience store is running an algorithm to ensure the wealth of the owners and “unhealth” of the community by providing the community what it asks for. Unfortunately, the community collectively asks for destructive things.
Just remember: A human cell is immortal. Give it the nutrients it needs, and remove toxins regularly and a cell can live indefinitely. However, cells, like people, will die in their own toxins. I believe this is why my mother kept telling me to clean my room!
On the community level, did you notice that convenience stores (Liquor Stores) are strategically accessible in oppressed neighborhoods and they sell everything bad for you? Tobacco products, bags of chips, beer, hard liquor, candy bars, sodas, lottery tickets, etc. Why is that?
Alcohol decreases testosterone, lowers GH and thyroid, increases insulin, increases stress hormones, creates hormonal imbalances, it creates negative changes in dopamine, serotonin and other brain chemicals. Alcohol is also terrible for your gut health, disrupts your sleep pattern by decreasing REM sleep and the quality of your sleep altogether.
